Sachems net berth in semis
Senior Alie Carlson had a career-high nine kills along with three blocks as the top-seeded RHAM High girls volleyball team rolled into the CIAC Class M state tournament semifinals with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 quarterfinal-round victory Friday over eighth-seeded East Catholic.
Tessa Smolinski ( 8 kills, 13 digs, 13-for-13 serving), Kelsey Welling (8 kills), Jocelyn Taylor ( 5 kills, 7 blocks), Mallory Grosso (10 digs) and Ellie Linden (22 assists) paced the Sachems (23-0).
RHAM will meet Jonathan Law, whom they defeated in last year’s Class M final, on Wednesday night in the semifinals at a site and time to be determined.
Law, the No. 4 seed, advanced with a 25-12, 25-16, 23-25, 2522 victory over No. 5 Woodland Regional.
